Soldier Family Care Clinic - White Sands, NM

The new design-build Soldier Family Care Clinic has been designed to complement the established architectural theme by leveraging the existing modern adobe vocabulary established on the White Sands Missile Range. Caught between the technical area visual zone and the outdoor recreation visual zone, the design of the new SFCC will act as a bridge between the two zones. As a response to the both the site and the building function discussed above, the building was developed as a single story structure complimentary to the scale of the surrounding structures.
The articulated building floor plan was developed to best fit the site and acts as a visual cue to the primary entry point to the facility. The curtain wall system provides a level of connection between the outside and the patients waiting in the lobby, which will enhance the patient experience.
The interior image of the facility was selected to reinforce the modern New Mexico architectural theme expressed in the exterior architecture. The interiors will promote a professional environment while complying with the requirements of the HFPA Environment of Care. Materials and material finishes have been selected based on their appropriateness for a healthcare facility. The color palette provides an inviting and welcoming environment for the patients, office staff, and visitors.
Given the available site, the team has planned this project for the requested full 20% future growth from both wings. This would result in a total potential available growth allowable of 40% without the requirement to harden or change the parking or infrastructure.
