1000-Room Lodging Facility - Fort Lee, VA

The Korte Company's innovative approach to the multi-story facility’s design complements the base architecture and forms a campus with the adjacent Army Logistics University while reducing the project cost.

When complete, the facility will receive a LEED Silver rating from the USGBC and will provide 1,000 rooms for the soldiers and their families as they transition to and from Fort Lee.

The facility represents both a classic and contemporary design by incorporating elements from the past with a decidedly 21st century influence. The lodge will be functional and easily maintained while providing a welcoming atmosphere for soldiers and their families.

The interior design of all areas will be appropriate to the function of that area and work with the exterior design to provide an overall integrated appearance. Selection of materials shall be based on low maintenance qualities considering the anticipated use, and the requirements for health, fire and safety.

Guests’ first impressions of the lodge begin on their arrival and will be enhanced as they enter the lobby. The lobby sets the tone for the rest of the public spaces and guest rooms. A strong focal point in the lobby is needed for visual interest without being ornate or distracting from the total space. Structural components should become integral design elements of the space.
