USPS Processing & Distribution Center - Fort Myers
Location
The U.S. Postal Service selected The Korte Company through a competitive “best value” process to design and build a 90,500 square foot expansion to their existing facility in Ft. Myers, Florida.
The project consisted of an expansion of the mail processing workroom, offices, locker rooms, lookout galleries, mezzanines, and maintenance support areas. Special systems included installation of an investigative room and closed circuit television system.
The original facility was constructed with architectural precast concrete with two distinct colors and multiple fenestrations. The design-build team was able to successfully replicate the same colors and fenestrations in the tilt-up, field cast concrete panels. This required extreme quality control and a two-step pour process
The Korte Company received the 1998 Quality Concrete Award from the American Concrete Council for “demonstration of outstanding quality in the use of concrete”. In addition to a quality product, the owner realized cost reductions and time savings with Korte’s tilt-up concrete enclosure.
