The Center for Emerging Technologies, a public-private-academic partnership focused on positioning the St. Louis region as a worldwide center of advanced technology industries, needed to expand its facilities to accommodate the rapidly growing needs of the Center’s high-tech tenants.

The Center purchased a neighboring building and set forth to look for a construction partner to renovate the 93-year-old factory building into 50,000 square feet of customizable workspace.

The renovation of the Center was very complex and the reporting process for idea exchange and approval was critical for the project to stay on schedule and within the budget. This project uncovered a few unexpected gems, including the remnants of belt gear from a shoe company’s manufacturing line, antique phones and electrical switch boxes. In an effort to preserve some of the building’s history, the project team decided to keep the antiques intact.
