Equipment Concentration Site Warehouse – Fort Hunter Liggett, CA

We build to the highest quality standards, even military-grade. This project at Fort Hunter Liggett is U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Certified Silver for energy efficiency.

This single-story warehouse provides facilities for the purpose of maintaining and storing military equipment for the 170th Equipment Concentration Site at Fort Hunter Liggett. In addition to providing about 92,855 square feet dedicated to open storage and staging, the warehouse also accommodates office spaces, unit common, storage, an arms storage vault, a room for classes and breaks, toilets and locker rooms.

The principle challenge posed by the building type is an exterior expression that balances the building’s functional requirements while providing elements that relate to the human scale. The elements at the forefront of the design concept are consistency with the existing neighboring buildings, interior daylight conditions, and the articulation of rhythm through repetition of building elements.

The design of the warehouse envelope employs a continuous air barrier system that encapsulates both walls and roofs to minimize airflow through the assemblies and improve overall building performance. Matching the existing facilities, the proposed building aesthetics are derived by incorporating both historic and contemporary concepts.

Recalling the architectural styles of Spanish Mission Revival predominant throughout the local context, the warehouse has an appropriate appearance through color, proportion and traditional architectural elements. And it maintains simple massing to deliver maximum value in the space.

Our team takes pride in exceptional Design-Build warehouse construction for the military and private companies. Learn about warehouse construction at The Korte Company.
