Knapheide Manufacturing Company – Quincy, IL

Since 1958, we’ve built smart. And smart construction minimizes risk.

We deliver manufacturing construction that helps protect production and improve workflow.

In 1993, the Knapheide Manufacturing Company had their building flooded. In response, they made the decision to relocate their headquarters away from the Mississippi River. And they selected The Korte Company as the Design-Build contractor for the new truck body manufacturing facility.

We used concrete Tilt-Up construction to build this 363,000-square-foot facility. The building houses a 35,000-square-foot, two-story office. We carefully planned the manufacturing and assembly areas to streamline operations. And we built special features directly into the manufacturing area, including an E-coat paint line and five wet spray paint booths, to accommodate Knapheide’s production.

With the new facility, their production was smarter, more streamlined, and more protected. And we earned recognition from the Design-Build Institute of America for the quality of this build, with an award for “2000 Best Industrial Project under $25 million.”

We’re deeply experienced in delivering large Design-Build construction projects for manufacturers, and we can help you get the most out of your facility, too.
