Mountain Post Behavioral Health Clinic – Fort Carson, CO

The Mountain Post Behavioral Clinic is a 26,298-square-foot, one-story clinic that provides behavioral health and psychology services for active-duty members.

It consists of a provider’s offices, group therapy area, observation rooms, tech areas, biofeedback rooms, conference rooms, communications rooms, records storage, staff lounge and vending areas. We also delivered a landscaped staff break area patio, separate from the healing garden.

The exterior walls are non-load bearing masonry, backed by metal stud framing with a white, 60-mil, Energy Star rated thermoplastic polyolefin membrane roofing system. We designed the building envelope as a brick veneered metal stud system. At select locations, we used metal wall panels as an accent at the top of the wall. At the skylight, we installed a fiberglass translucent panel system to transmit diffused natural light into the interior spaces.

Sitework included earthwork, landscaping, asphalt paving, concrete sidewalks, an on-site storm drainage system, site lighting, access control gate and benches. Prior to construction, we removed about 40,000 square feet of existing asphalt and concrete pavement. To support this facility, our project team relocated a sanitary sewer line crossing the site around the new facility as well as a fire hydrant and the associated piping. A 16-foot emergency access drive remains along the west side of the building, making these areas vehicle accessible for easy maintenance.

Building systems include an Electronic Access Control system, closed-circuit TV, audio-visual, lightning protection, a duress alarm, nurse call, fire alarm and mass notification systems. The facility earned LEED Silver certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.
