Summerlin Fire Station #47

The Howard Hughes Corporation selected The Korte Company as the general contractor for the construction of new fire and rescue station, located in Henderson, Nevada.

The single-story 11,300-square-foot facility was a collaborative project between Howard Hughes Corporation and the city of Las Vegas.

As the developer of the masterplan community of Henderson, The Howard Hughes Corporation was responsible for the construction of the facility, which was subsequently allotted to the city of Las Vegas under the development agreement.

Steel frame construction with exterior masonry bearing walls created the facility’s building envelope and incorporated an exterior insulation and finish system, steel trellis framing and masonry wainscot to enhance the exterior elevations and complement the community’s design standards.

The facility, located on a 1.8-acre site, was equipped with two fire apparatus bays and a single rescue apparatus bay, each with independent turn-outs, equipment storage, utility space, as well as clean room spaces. A total of 14 single-unit dorm rooms, four restroom/shower facilities and three locker bays were designed accommodate the resident first responders’ three-shift operations schedule.

Additional amenities included a full kitchen with commercial-grade appliances, three separate crew-specific pantry areas, dining room, dayroom, an exercise area and office spaces for captains and staff.

After its completion, Summerlin Fire Station #47 was recognized by the industry as the Best Public Project Under $10 Million.
