USPS Carrier Annex – Great Neck, NY

This is one of more than 40 warehouse construction projects we’ve completed for the U.S. Postal Service (USPS).

The new facility consists of a 14,200-square-foot annex and a two-story, 14,200-square-foot parking structure with parking available for 85 vehicles. The distribution facility contains a workroom, office support and administrative areas, break rooms, employee lockers, storage space, equipment rooms, and mechanical mezzanines.

Per the recommendations of the project’s structural engineer, we designed the building with a crawl space to avoid adding any additional strain to an older, existing seawall bordering one side of the site. Because of its close proximity to Manhasset Bay, the deteriorated condition of the seawall, and poor soils, we had to take special precautions with the structural design. It also included a foundation system supported by wooden piles. The structural and environmental designs protected the site and minimized any environmental impact.

Site utilities for this project include sanitary sewer, domestic and fire protection, water, electricity, telecommunications, and natural gas. The site conditions also required us to construct a stormwater drainage system with underground detention so none of the runoff drained into the bay.

We can design and build to the highest standards of disaster-resistant construction practices. This is one of many builds we’ve completed to those standards, and in 2012, it survived Hurricane Sandy in one of the most affected areas.

We’ve proudly delivered many builds for producers and distributors. Learn more about our warehouse construction services.
