Granite City High School – renovation and addition

Granite City C.U.S.D. #9 selected The Korte Company as their construction manager for the 205,888-square-foot renovation and new addition to their existing high school.

The renovation included extensive refurbishing and remodeling of electrical, mechanical and plumbing systems as well as replacement of all windows, doors, roofing, floor coverings, ceilings and interior finishes.

Phase One began with the installation of new cooling equipment for the cafeteria, demolition of an unused smokestack and removal of asbestos. The new addition included a library/media center, study hall, bus drop-off enclosure, locker corridor, new stairwells and an elevator.

The Korte Company provided construction management services on this project. Our innovative project delivery plan and phased scheduling allowed the school to remain in session during the 27-month construction period.
