1000-Room Lodging Facility – Fort Lee, VA

At The Korte Company, we build facilities to the highest standards — even military-grade quality. The construction of the lodge at Fort Lee, near Prince George, Virginia, is some of our finest work.

Our team took an innovative approach to the design of the multi-story lodge, implementing solutions to complement the base architecture, form a campus with the adjacent Army Logistics University and reduce the project cost. The facility has received a LEED Silver rating from the U.S. Green Building Council and provides 1,000 rooms for the soldiers and their families as they transition to and from Fort Lee.

We designed the lodge to represent both a classic and contemporary feel by incorporating elements from the past with a decidedly 21st-century influence. The lodge is functional and easily maintained while providing a welcoming atmosphere for soldiers and their families.

The interior design of each area matches the function of that area and works with the exterior design to provide an overall integrated appearance. We selected materials based on low maintenance qualities considering the anticipated use and the requirements for health, fire and safety.

Guests’ first impressions of the lodge begin on their arrival and will be enhanced as they enter the lobby. The lobby sets the tone for the rest of the public spaces and guest rooms. We created a strong focal point in the lobby to provide visual interest without being ornate or distracting from the total space. And we used design solutions to allow structural components to serve as integral design elements of the space.
