96-Person Dormitory FY12 – Cannon Air Force Base, NM

At The Korte Company, we’ve built to the highest quality standards — even military-grade. Our experienced team has completed more than 2,000 builds, including a variety of dormitory construction projects like this one.

The dormitory at Cannon Air Force Base uses a highly aesthetic, low-maintenance, smooth and split-faced concrete masonry and stucco to match previous, existing dormitory buildings. Large windows compliment the façade, allowing an abundance of natural light into each space to provide an enhanced living environment.

We used a Colonial Red color standing seam roof to define the roof envelope and minimize the heat island effect. That’s a big part of building green and meeting U.S. Green Building Council sustainable LEED construction criteria. The roof slope and overhang add dimension to the building and shed water away from entry doors and building foundations.

The covered bicycle rack area has been designed to match the architecture of the dormitories and is located within 200 yards of the building entrance. The end walls are made of split face concrete masonry units, cast stone and a three-coat stucco system with the long sides open for ease of use.

We’ve also completed dormitory construction projects at educational campuses, too. You can learn more about our housing construction services here.
