Center For Emerging Technologies

The Korte Company provides commercial remodeling for office building owners, tenants and commercial developers nationwide. In this unique project, we remodeled an old St. Louis car factory that’s a registered historic site and turned it into usable office space for a startup incubator.

The Center for Emerging Technologies is a public-private-academic partnership focused on positioning the St. Louis region as a worldwide center of advanced technology industries. In 2004, they needed to expand their facilities to accommodate the rapidly growing needs of the Center’s high-tech tenants. They purchased a neighboring building and set forth to look for a construction partner to renovate the 93-year-old factory building into 50,000 square feet of customizable workspace.

The renovation of the Center was highly complex, and our reporting process for idea exchange and approval played a critical in delivering the project on time and on budget. Throughout the renovation, we uncovered a few unexpected gems, including the remnants of belt gear from a shoe company’s manufacturing line, antique phones and electrical switch boxes.

In an effort to preserve some of the building’s history, the project team decided to keep the antiques intact. And we even incorporated an old radiator into the design and construction of the boardroom roundtable.

Our team has completed more than 2,000 construction projects since 1958, including the full gamut of office builds. And we’ve never delivered over budget or behind schedule. Read more about this unique and historic project or learn more about our St. Louis construction company.
