TKC is awarded Donnewald Distribution Center in Greenville, IL

Donnewald Distributing, Inc. has selected The Korte Company as the design-build contractor for their new Distribution Center in Greenville, IL. Mike Donnewald, President and CEO, said, “Korte was chosen because we felt they offered the best overall value for this project”. Anheuser-Busch Wholesale Facilities Planning Group prepared the design-build bid package and assisted in the selection process.

The new facility will combine three existing operations into one building. The total building has over 146,000 square feet of space that includes offices, a meeting/training room, a 70,000 square foot controlled environment warehouse (CEW), a drive thru truck loading bay and other ancillary areas. The site also has a freestanding truck wash facility, fueling facilities, parking for 92 cars and a 5 acre lake.

Sustainable design features have been incorporated throughout the building. The lake will be used to provide geothermal heating and cooling for the building. It will be the first Anheuser-Busch distribution center in the nation to use geothermal for the building cooling system. Other green building design features include: low energy lighting, low VOC paint, environmental friendly carpet, and low water use fixtures. The exterior walls of the building will be constructed of insulated, tilt-up concrete that will be cast on site. Site work will begin immediately with construction completion scheduled for May, 2010.
