The Korte Company provided Design-Build services for a new, three-story shipyard shop building. The Waterfront Support Building contains an open, first-floor work area for shipyard maintenance operations, a mezzanine level supporting locker space and decontamination showers, and second and third floors devoted to fleet and shipyard office space. The shop area includes jib cranes, a welding area and a compressed air distribution system.
This complex project required that we use staged demolition, relocate a two-story historic building and work within a limited footprint adjacent to an operational dry dock. For this project, we constructed in conjunction with the high security Controlled Industrial Area at Bremerton Naval Shipyard.
