The Korte Company has provided Design-Build services for congregations across the U.S. This build for Church of Our Lady of the Snows is some of our finest general contracting and church construction work. And the church is in Belleville, Illinois, just outside of our Highland headquarters.
The Church of Our Lady of the Snows is a spectacular design of cast-in-place concrete. It’s highlighted with natural light and a large, decorative plaza and lobby. The roof has three elevations. A sloped skylight encircles three-fourths of the building above an interior corridor, providing an artistic and enjoyable experience for the congregation.
The church’s circular design proved to be a layout challenge. But our experienced, multi-disciplined team engineered solutions throughout the build. Everything was established from a central hub, including the grid for the rustication strips on the exterior concrete walls. These strips line up with the borders of the concrete plaza at the church entrance. It all adds up to a working, eye-catching facility that provides a great home for worship and community.
