For more than five decades, Fire Station #51 served North Las Vegas from its original home on E. Carey Avenue — a 1973 building that became a steady part of the surrounding neighborhood. The station’s final day of service was Jan. 15, 2025, making way for a new facility on the same site that continues the long commitment to the community.
The new 14,837-square-foot station is designed around durability, efficiency and long-term value. Its exterior combines CMU block, T-groove metal wall panels, and charred Cypress wood accents with steel-surround windows and vertical address signage, establishing a clear civic identity. A backlit stainless steel “51” marks the main entry, while fire poles salvaged from the original building are displayed in respect to the station’s history.
Inside, the layout supports quick response and day-to-day workflow. The apparatus bay accommodates up to four firetrucks and includes seven four-fold doors for efficient movement. Adjacent to the bay is a turnout locker room with 39 lockers that reinforces safety and readiness. The station also provides 12 dorms – including captain and battalion chief quarters – with custom built-in casework.
Additional spaces include a commercial-grade kitchen and day room, along with dedicated areas for EMS, laundry, storage, data and fitness. Together, these elements form a well-planned, purpose-built facility that will support North Las Vegas firefighters and the community they serve for years ahead.
