The Hershey Gateway project is a 177,726-square-foot expansion to their existing facility located in Robinson, Illinois. The multi-phased expansion includes the construction of an overhead process piping network which transports raw materials into the main facility from a remote uploading station.
During the comprehensive, multiphase addition, a detailed plan was initiated to ensure the facility remained fully operational with minimal disruptions. The Korte Company worked closely with Hershey team to coordinate and integrate all building systems, process piping and owner furnished equipment.
The initial stage of construction included a new main entry addition, new employee locker rooms, an expanded uploading station and an addition to the primary docking areas.
The second phase included a two-story processing/packaging addition that also encompassed a breakroom, offices, conference room, shipping/receiving office, driver’s lounge, and restrooms. Renovations also included insulated metal wall panels, mechanical and electrical installations, new finishes, doors, and partitions.
The sitework also included a new employee parking lot, visitor parking lot, truck dock paving, and landscaping.
