The Korte Company has partnered with Lidl, a global grocery chain which operates in thirty-two countries and employees more than 341,000 people. The new 880,000 square foot facility, located in Covington, Georgia will serve as a regional headquarters and will supply products to Lidl store across the region.

The facility is Lidl’s fourth U.S. facility to date and is one of the largest pre-engineered metal buildings (PEMB) ever planned in the country. The logistics center features a building height of 55 feet with 80,000 square feet of freezer storage, 140,000 square feet of chiller storage, and 356,000 square feet of dry storage area. Storage spaces are aligned by 164 dock door positions on either side of the facility for shipping and receiving of products.

Distribution and administration office support spaces are provided as appendage buildings to the main building as well as a refrigeration control room that houses equipment needed for operation of the chiller and freezer spaces.

The site encompasses adequate dock, trailer and employee parking for the facilities operations, with a centrally located guardhouse to control access to the site.  An on-site fire tank and pump house provide the facility with adequate water supply and pressure for the sprinkler systems.
