Maytag, a subsidary of The Whirlpool Corporation, the world’s leading global manufacturer and marketer of major home appliances, selected The Korte Company from a field of six national contractors for their expansion project using a competitive design-build criteria based on tilt-up concrete experience, qualifications, project staffing, design and cost.
Known simply as Building 61, the 172,000 square foot expansion project was constructed using tilt-up concrete panels. In all, the Maytag Refrigeration Plant in Galesburg, Illinois measured just over two million square feet, and at its height, employed over 2,500 people.
