The Korte Company worked with Penske Logistics to expand an existing distribution center, supporting one of the world’s largest coffee chains. The renovation increased the facility’s total footprint from 130,000 to 176,000 square feet, significantly enhancing its operational capacity. Cold storage space grew from 22,000 to 88,000 square feet, including a 16,540-square-foot cooler and a 43,800-square-foot freezer.
As part of the expansion, the team relocated the existing cooler, converted dock spaces into refrigerated docks, and reconfigured and expanded office space to include a new conference room, restrooms, vending area, and breakroom. A state-of-the-art CO₂ refrigeration system was installed to service the cold dock, improving efficiency and sustainability. The project also included a new battery charging and maintenance area to support logistics operations.
Construction was completed in multiple phases to maintain facility operations. Initial work involved relocating warehouse functions, constructing new charging and inbound driver areas, and updating restrooms. Subsequent phases expanded and remodeled refrigerated docks, demolished outdated offices, and added new freezer space. The final phase connected the new and existing refrigerated docks and freezers, seamlessly integrating the expanded facility.
