The Korte Company successfully executed a design-build project for Penske Logistics, centered on expanding their warehouse facility in Houston, Texas. This expansion encompassed 23,000 square feet, featuring a state-of-the-art 20,900 square foot freezer and a 2,200 square foot chilled dock complete with a continuous dock pit.
The project involved selective demolition in specific areas, such as offices, restrooms, interior slabs, demising walls and existing aluminum storefronts. Key aspects of the project comprised raised slabs and supports for rack equipment, insulated freezer slabs with glycol loops and cutting-edge Insulated Metal Panel (IMP) walls and ceilings. To enhance functionality, new overhead doors, rapid roll-up doors, dock equipment and fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP) man doors were installed.
A significant highlight of the project was the implementation of advanced refrigeration systems. These systems not only upgraded the existing cooler refrigeration setup but also seamlessly integrated a new freezer refrigeration system. This integration was crucial to ensuring Penske’s operations ran seamlessly and efficiently.
Furthermore, the project included enhancements in electrical panels, fire alarm systems and an upgraded electric service, reinforcing a secure and technologically advanced environment for Penske Logistics.
