The Korte Company worked closely with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and The Molasky Group to deliver the 17,400-square-foot tenant improvement project.
The DOE’s new corporate office, located on the penthouse level of The Molasky Center, incorporated the U.S. Green Building Council’s approaches and practices for sustainable building throughout all phases of design and construction and was awarded a LEED Gold certification.
The comprehensive renovation included an open-office layout and design scheme which incorporated colors and patterns specific to the surrounding Las Vegas environment. Natural lighting was used in combination with an automated, energy-efficient LED lighting to provide the space with state-of-the-art illumination.
Because the building was occupied and fully operational, the selective demolition and new construction phases were carefully staged and scheduled to limit any disruptions to the existing tenants. Much of the work was completed after hours and on weekends.
Additionally, all construction equipment and materials were delivered to the 17th floor site via the service elevator, a requirement that necessitated all materials be broken down and staged into smaller loads prior to transport.
