The Korte Company delivered the first full-service Design-Build-Furnish project for the United States Postal Service’s Kansas City Regional Processing and Distribution Center. The 816,225-square-foot interior build out modernized operations while improving security, efficiency and the overall work environment. Completed by KDI, TKC and KI, the project was finished on time and under budget.
The work included renovating existing administration and employee areas while adding a wide range of new spaces, including offices, open office areas, training rooms, conference rooms, breakrooms, wellness rooms, a lunchroom, a guardhouse, and drivers’ check-in areas. Updated mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems were designed and installed to support both the renovated and expanded areas. Site improvements further enhanced USPS security and logistics operations with additional employee parking, upgraded gate entrances, and new traffic controls throughout the property.
Inside, Korte Interiors provided furniture, fixtures and equipment for all office areas, training rooms, driver break areas, lunchroom and conference rooms. Facility upgrades included enhanced CCTV, intercom systems, fire alarm pull stations and new security systems with card reader access. Infrastructure was added to power advanced mail sorting machines, and a pre-engineered metal building was constructed to serve as the grounds shed.
This Design-Build project reinforced The Korte Company’s long-term relationship with USPS — delivering both scale and precision in one of the nation’s largest regional processing centers.
