The Korte Company was selected by Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) to provide Design-Build services for the renovation and structural upgrade of a 55-year old existing hangar located at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, Washington. Our team completed the project in three phases.
We designed and constructed the repairs and renovation to recapitalize Hangar 5 and meet Life Safety, Health and Environmental requirements. Special requirements included seismic repair, Anti-Terrorism Force Protection (ATFP) improvements, SCIF security requirements, and NMCI standards. We also delivered a site parking lot to comply with ATFP requirements.
We also delivered all design and construction work in accordance with sustainable design requirements. The project earned recognition from The Society of American Military Engineers and was a Design Excellence Award Winner, earning the Gold Award.
