A building’s design and environment greatly impact the way children learn and play. At The Korte Company, we’ve designed and constructed youth centers and schools across the country. Our experienced team has delivered learning and activity environments that help kids develop and provide teachers and staff with critical built-in resources. This is one of many youth center design and construction projects we’ve completed.
The contract for this project was awarded using a pioneering concept in government procurement. The U.S. Army’s Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation program (MWR) awarded us the Fort Stewart Youth Activity Center design and construction project under an Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity contract.
That means the Army brought The Korte Company on board at the beginning of the planning process to control and maintain costs. We provided youth center design and construction services while building value engineering directly into the facility’s architectural and interior designs. We worked in partnership with MWR to design a building to meet the financial requirements of the project, setting up a project budget at the beginning of the project. And we maintained and controlled costs within that budget through every stage of design and construction. In the end, we designed and constructed a facility that seamlessly meets the Army’s needs.
This 26,000-square-foot youth center includes a multipurpose gymnasium, teen and preteen recreation rooms, classrooms, a kitchen, a technology center with desktop computers, classrooms, a mezzanine office and storage space. We equipped the facility with fire alarm, sprinkler and security systems. And we ensured that all areas are fully handicap-accessible.
We’re proud to deliver design and construction services that help children and families in school districts and on military bases. Learn more about school construction at The Korte Company.
