Las Vegas: A new beginning
Greg Korte, one of our founder Ralph Korte’s sons, made his way out to Las Vegas to work as an office engineer at a local firm shortly after earning a construction management degree from Kansas State University in 1987.
Just ten years later, Greg had worked his way up to become President and CEO of the firm as well as its majority stakeholder. But when non-payment on a big job loomed in 2002, Greg faced a dilemma: Save himself and fold up the company or find a way to protect the subcontractors and vendors who would be left holding the bag.
The Korte Company absorbed Greg’s firm. It was the best kind of one-two punch, marking the company’s first expansion beyond its home turf in St. Louis while demonstrating Greg’s commitment to doing right by his associates, clients, subcontractors and vendors.
Today, Greg Korte still serves as President of The Korte Company’s Las Vegas Division, leading our teams on an extensive array of manufacturing, distribution, healthcare, aerospace and commercial projects.
It’s proof that integrity and good old fashioned Midwestern hard work go a long way no matter where you are.
