Fifteen years ago, The Korte Company opened its doors in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Highland, Illinois - Humble Beginnings

In 1958, Ralph Korte, a carpenter at heart, began building what was to become his life's work. With not much more than a pickup truck and a saw, he started helping on his neighbors' farms, constructing mostly milking parlors and barns. Word got out that Ralph and his crew built a good barn at a good price. Soon after, Ralph Korte Construction was building for his neighbors' neighbors. Barns became warehouses, which developed into offices, distribution centers, churches, schools and more.

Las Vegas, Nevada - A New Beginning

Much like his father, Greg cut his teeth on the job site. While his friends were spending their summers learning to swim, Greg was learning the family business. After working as a laborer through high school, Greg studied Construction Management at Kansas State University, where he graduated in 1987 and took his first job as an Office Engineer for a Las Vegas-based construction firm. Greg worked his way through the ranks and was named President and CEO, and became the majority stakeholder in 1997.

By 2002, The Korte Company had established itself as a nationally recognized design-build company with construction starts across the country and a portfolio of award-winning projects. Our client list continued to grow and included everyone from the local church group to Fortune 100 Corporations.

Even as we broke ground in places like Hawaii and Puerto Rico, we remained a Midwestern company, born and raised. The values we were taught growing up were now the guiding principles for the company we had become. Hard work, dedication, integrity and moral code aren't words we throw around lightly. They are who we are, and more importantly, it's what our clients have come to expect.

Much like his father, Greg cut his teeth on the job site. While his friends were spending their summers learning to swim, Greg was learning the family business. In 2002, a non-payment threatened not only the company and its employees, but also jeopardized the subcontractors and vendors involved in the project. The move to partner with The Korte Company as they expanded into Las Vegas marked a major point in Greg's career. His leadership and values never faltered, and his conviction to protect his associates, clients and subcontractors earned him the respect of his co-workers, peers and clients.

Fifteen Years Strong

Today, The Korte Company continues to expand under the leadership of Greg Korte, who is currently the President of The Korte Company's Las Vegas Division. He continues to lead by example, putting clients and associates first. The lessons he learned growing up in a small Midwestern town serve as a reminder that hard work and integrity never lose their purpose.

So here's to Fifteen Years Strong. We are thankful for the people we've had the opportunity to work with. Our clients, vendors and subcontractors have become friends, and our employees have become family. And for that, we are truly grateful.

The Korte Company had just begun to construct Summerlin’s newest Fire Station. The 11,300 square foot facility was awarded through the Howard Hughes Corporation to meet the growing fire protection needs of the master-planned community of Summerlin, Nevada.

When it was completed, Fire Station #47 was recognized by the Southwestern Contractor’s Magazine as the Best Public Project Under $10 – something we’re very proud to hang our hat on.

Whole Foods Market

September, 2005

We had just completed the almost 50,000 square foot store for Whole Foods Market, located in The District’s retail complex – a multi-use retail, dining and office complex in Henderson, Nevada. Whole Foods was one of four projects completed within the development.

Working closely with the world’s leader in natural and organic foods, we were able to complement the architectural style of the surrounding buildings. Using environmentally friendly and sustainably produced building materials allowed us to deliver a green facility, which aligns with both The Korte Company’s and Whole Food’s corporate values.

In April of 2004, The Korte Company completed the 60,000 square foot office building for the American Nevada Company. Located adjacent to Green Valley Ranch Resort Spa & Casino, the facility was part of a larger urban plan, designed to create an area of commercial activity for the community.

The Urban Village is a 60,000-square-foot, three-story Class-A office building for the American Nevada Company. It's located in Henderson, Nevada adjacent to Green Valley Ranch Casino. The building exterior consists of glazed aluminum curtain walls, granite stone tile veneers, exterior insulation finish system (EIFS) veneers and an extensive use of glass fiber reinforced concrete (GFRC) columns, caps, cornices, dentils and trim. We built the third floor level with a balcony at each corner, and the building interior core on each level consists of stone floor tile, African mahogany wall panels and drywall ceilings accented with wood crown moldings and chandeliers.

In early 2003, The Korte Company began construction on St. John Neumann Parish Center for the Diocese of Las Vegas. The project was a 28,000 square foot parish center that served many functions for the growing congregation. It also marked the beginning of a lasting relationship that continues to grow stronger with each project.

As a company, we are humbled and thankful to be a part of the progress the diocese has made through the years. From the Shrine of Our Lady of La Vang and St. Francis of Assisi Hall to Sacred Heart Church and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, we’ve had the opportunity to help build one of the strongest dioceses in the country.

Aliante Home Finding Center

August 26, 2002

In August of 2002, The Korte Company began construction on a 4,600 square foot, state-of-the-art facility for American Nevada’s Del Webb Communities in North Las Vegas Valley. It originally served as the Information Gallery for Aliante, one of the Valley's first master planned communities.

The 1,095-acre community consists of a primary village as well as an active adult village with approximately 6,500 homes. The community incorporates residential, commercial, recreational and public uses designed to complement the lifestyles of its residents. Central to that was the Home Finding Center.

The Korte Company teamed with JMA Architecture Studios in Las Vegas to design and the open yet functional floor plan. The Home Finding Center was designed to provide potential home buyers with information about the community. Once the community was completed, the facility was repurposed and is currently a high-end restaurant which provides residents with an option for fine dining.

The Home Finding Center was awarded top honors in Southwest Contractor Magazine's annual competition in the category "Best Public Project Under $5 Million". Finalists were judged on design, construction, innovation, ability to overcome unique construction challenges and overall excellence.
