Making the world sweeter —
1.1 million-sq-ft Hershey distribution center
The biggest name in U.S. chocolate trusted The Korte Company to Design-Build the 1.1 million-square-foot Hershey Foods Midwest Distribution Center in Edwardsville, Illinois. The state-of-the-art structure includes warehouse space and a two-story, insulated Tilt-Up concrete office wing.
The warehouse is a durable, climate-controlled environment for the nearly $1 billion worth of chocolate shipped, stored and received on a daily basis. A system of Tilt-Up concrete, insulated metal panel construction, and 18 rooftop HVAC units ensures a constant 60-degree temperature and 50% relative humidity.
Cold storage construction is not for beginners
It may just look like another building from the street, but a lot goes into an optimized cold storage warehouse. Since delays and downtime cost market share, you need everything right the first time. HVAC systems, insulation, backup power — that’s not the half of it.
From laying foundations to installing Pre-Engineered Metal Buildings (PEMBs) like Lidl’s 880,000-square-foot distribution center in Covington, Georgia, we’ve choreographed this dance hundreds of times.
