Healthcare clinic construction should see surge thanks to federal funding

According to an article last week on Philly.com, the U.S. Health and Human Services announced $728 million in capital funding to community health centers all across the country. The organization’s Secretary, Kathleen Sebelius, made the announcement last week while touring the Fairmount Health Center in Philadelphia. She went on to acknowledge that such clinics are many Americans’ primary source of care.

According to the article, in the next five years, an estimated 32 million people will be gaining health insurance. And community health centers are believed to play a very significant role in the care of newly insured patients. To date, 67 sites have already been added nationwide and more than 190 have benefitted in some capacity from the $11 billion that the Affordable Care Act designated.
