The Korte Company was awarded a Design-Build contract by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Louisville District for the design and construction of a 500-member Army Reserve Center at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland.
Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG) is one of the most diversified military installations in the United States and the work that takes place at this 72,000-acre complex touches almost every aspect of U.S. military operations. Home to the world’s leaders in research, development, testing and evaluation of materiel, APG serves as a primary center for science and technology.
The project consists of an approximately 69,009-square-foot training center and options for another approximately 9,000 square feet of Organizational Maintenance Shop, Unheated Storage Building and a vehicle wash platform. The site will be complete with utilities, privately owned vehicle parking (POV), Military Equipment Parking, Force Protection measures and other site improvements to support the development.
The Korte Company is the prime Design-Build contractor and Michael Baker, International (Baker), is the lead design firm for the Army Reserve Center at Aberdeen Proving Ground. Baker has partnered with The Korte Company as the designer of record on a total of 24 projects since 2007 from Washington to Puerto Rico. Of those, eight have achieved U.S. Green Building Council LEED Gold certification and seven have achieved a Silver certification, with several others expecting certification.
