The Korte Company provided construction management services to Edwardsville CUSD No. 7 on this project after the original manager failed to keep the project within budget. Over 400 value-engineering applications were generated by the project team, which allowed the entire program to be completed below budget. The Korte Team was able to reduce the original bids by over $3 million. As Construction Manager for the $31 million building program, Korte established an aggressive schedule and tight budget for the construction of a new high school. Interest was also generated with the local contracting community and bid packages were structured to promote participation.
The project earned the Construction Industry Cost-Effectiveness Award for implementing cost-effective principles that incorporated owner involvement, innovation, modern management systems, new technology, team building and personnel training. It also received a Reader’s Choice Award for craftsmanship, teamwork, and more specifically, utilizing modern electronic teaching and communications technology.
