Southern Highlands is an 8,500-square-foot private preparatory school. The facility serves preschool and elementary students.
The owner also has plans for another school to serve junior high and high school students adjacent to the elementary building. The building contains 12 elementary classrooms, three preschool classrooms, a multipurpose room, teachers lounge and administrative offices. There are also three play yards, one for preschool, kindergarten and elementary students, respectively.
The project was originally set as a competitive hard dollar, lump sum bid. The Korte Company submitted the lowest competitive bid, however, the project was still over budget. Korte worked together with the owner, architect, and subcontractors to develop value engineering options and pricing. This effort, led by The Korte Company, brought the project within budget and allowed Southern Highlands to meet their opening date.
