A carefully planned, aggressive schedule allowed The Korte Company to complete the three-story Famous-Barr at Chesterfield Mall in 10 months, which was in time for the busiest and most profitable Christmas season.
The Korte Company’s management team coordinated over 250 tradesmen during the construction phase so that the store would be stocked for its November Grand Opening.
The building is a steel-framed structure with synthetic stucco skin. The store entrances are accented with granite-faced arches and stainless steel canopies. In the store’s open center court, escalators crisscross under a large skylight, and a passenger and freight elevator services all three levels.
